BankID app

You must have an active BankID agreement to activate and use the BankID app. You can check this by logging in to the online bank, going to Settings and BankID.

If you see "Information about your BankID", this means you already have BankID. However, if you see What is BankID?, this means you do not have an active BankID agreement. There you will also have the option to set up BankID by following the steps.

If you cannot work it out yourself, you can contact us via chat or by phone on 915 04 800.

1. Click Log in in the top right corner and enter your Norwegian national identity number.
2. Select BankID.
3. If you have not logged in with the BankID app before, you must click on Select another BankID and then BankID app.
4. Your choice will be remembered for next time.
5. Click on the notification that appears on your phone to open the app. If you have not enabled notifications, you must open the app manually.
6. Approve the request in the app.
7. Go to the login window in the online bank and enter your personal password of at least eight characters.
8. Click on the arrow to log in.

An outdated version of the BankID app may remain on your phone. Therefore, delete the BankID app, reinstall it and activate the app again.

If you have received a new personal password today, or recently created a BankID agreement, we recommend that you wait one day before attempting to activate the BankID app again.

It is possible to activate the BankID app in two different ways:

1. Passport
2. National ID card

• Change the default browser on your phone. Recommended browsers are Edge or Google Chrome.
• Try activating using a different network, for example Wi-Fi or mobile data.
• Turn off VPN and clear your browser history.

If a page appears inside the app that says: We need information from the old app, URL not found or 404 – The page you are looking for does not exist, this means that you also have an old version of the BankID app on your phone.

Check the app library/search function on your phone and delete all BankID apps. Once you have deleted all BankID apps on your phone, you can download the app again and start the activation.

No, do not throw away your code token even though you can now use the BankID app. You can manage with the app for everyday use, but it is still wise to keep the code token as a backup.

You can only have the BankID app activated on one device at a time. If you have a new phone, the app must be activated again.

If you have your four-digit personal code and code device, you can log in to online banking by using the login methodWithout BankID. Click on Settings, then Change personal password and click on New password and follow the steps.
