How you can protect yourself online
Take care of your assets before fraudsters do
Tips on how to increase your digital security
1. Be careful about sharing information
Sensitive information such as account details, passwords, national identity numbers and codes for BankID and online banking must never be provided over the phone, by SMS or by email. Neither the bank nor any other legitimate organisation will ever ask you for this type of information.
2. Do not click on links or open attachments
If you receive an unusual or suspicious email or SMS, do not click on links or open attachments, but delete it immediately. If you have clicked on the link and entered sensitive information, you must block your card immediately and contact the bank.
3. Ensure secure login
- Remember that BankID, code device and password are personal and must never be shared with anyone.
- Use passwords that are as complex as possible. Equally important is to change passwords for email, online services and social media frequently, and always when the service asks you to do so.
- Do not use the same passwords in multiple places.
- In addition, we recommend that you activate two-factor authentication as an extra layer of security when you log in to, for example, email or social media.
4. Stay informed about fraudsters' methods
If you are aware of and keep yourself updated on fraudsters' increasingly sophisticated and creative methods, the risk of becoming their next victim is significantly reduced. Knowledge therefore strengthens your digital peace of mind and helps you protect yourself and your funds. Get an overview of the most common fraud methods here.
5. Help the bank protect you
To reduce the risk of misuse of your funds and information, it is more important than ever that the bank knows you. We need to verify that you are actually you, and that we have the correct information about you right now.
Therefore, please ensure that the bank always has up-to-date customer information about you. If you have not done this for a while, it may be worthwhile to update your information now.
