Pre-market trading
US trading is no longer just an afternoon activity. With DNB Carnegie, the US market opens at 10:00 (CET/CEST).
What is pre-market trading?
In the US, it's possible to trade shares during a period before the American stock exchanges officially open at 15:30 Norwegian time (Central European Time and Central European Summer Time, CET/CEST). This period is called pre-market trading, or premarket.
DNB Carnegie now offers pre-market trading on NYSE and NASDAQ from 10:00 to 15:30 Norwegian time (CET/CEST). This gives you the opportunity to react to news, quarterly results and market movements long before ordinary trading begins.

Advantages | Disadvantages |
React earlier to newsQuarterly results, macroeconomic events and market movements; you don't have to wait until the afternoon. | Lower liquidityFewer investors are active in pre-market trading. This can result in a greater difference between the bid price and the offer price (wider spread). Prices can fluctuate more in pre-market trading than during ordinary trading hours. |

This gives you the opportunity to trade during ordinary working hours, without having to wait until the afternoon. | No inclusion in the opening auctionAn order that is executed during pre-market trading will not be included in the opening auction, but will be transferred to ordinary trading. |
Same shares, same brokerageYou trade the same shares as during ordinary trading hours, at standard DNB Carnegie brokerage rates. | Not all companies are availableWhether a company's shares can be traded during pre-market trading is determined by the company and stock exchange concerned, not by DNB Carnegie. The selection will therefore vary. |

Frequently asked questions
Pre-market trading takes place outside the Oslo Stock Exchange's ordinary trading hours and involves increased risk. Liquidity is normally lower and the bid/offer spread can be significantly wider than during ordinary trading hours. Prices in pre-market trading are not necessarily representative of the prices at market opening. Trading in shares and other securities involves risk of loss, and historical returns are no guarantee of future returns. The service is only available to existing customers of DNB Carnegie. Familiarise yourself with the terms and conditions and assess whether trading suits your financial situation and risk appetite before you trade.
