Power of Attorney

At different stages of life, the need for assistance may arise. An authorised user can help with payments, bills, statements and similar tasks. Remember that an authorised user must use their own BankID.

Hand in hand
  • Help from your own online bank

  • Keep track and pay bills from accounts you have access to

Are you one of those who help elderly people with online banking? Perhaps your mother or father is visually impaired or finds using a PC a bit difficult? By being an authorised user on an account, you can help from your own online bank. You can keep track and pay bills from accounts you have access to.

An authorised user will have access to make payments from the account and view transactions from before the authorisation was registered.

Please note that the authorised user must be a customer of DNB.

BankID is personal

BankID is electronic proof of identity and signature, in the same way as showing your passport or signing with a pen. Even though most people have good intentions, a helper can in some cases create problems for the person who needs to be helped.

BankID must not be handed over or disclosed to others, neither the bank, spouse, authorised signatories or other persons. If you need help with BankID, password and code device, the owner must contact us directly. We cannot assist if other family members call on their behalf.

What is a legal power of attorney?

A legal power of attorney enables close relatives to manage financial matters for a person who, due to illness or impaired health, is no longer able to do so themselves.

This may be relevant in cases such as dementia or acute illness, and a medical certificate is required as documentation.

Close relatives are defined as spouse or cohabitant, children, grandchildren or parents. The power of attorney allows payment of bills, covering daily expenses, paying tax and servicing existing loans. It does not grant the right to use BankID, make investments or buy and sell assets.
