New signatories

To be able to withdraw cash, or use the embassy's Internet bank, the embassy needs to have authorised signatories. Make sure you update this information with the bank when new signatories are made. 

This form must be sent to us with the following:
  1. The embassy’s stamp
  2. The ambassador’s signature
 

Frequently asked questions on withdrawal of currency at DNB Oslo Lufthavn/Airport

What is the maximum amount of cash I can withdraw in one day?

The maximum amount you can withdraw in one day is NOK 25.000.

Please note that the maximum amount per week is NOK 50.000.

How far in advance do I have to order the foreign currency?

Foreign currency must be ordered before 12:00 (noon) at least two banking days prior to pickup. 

If you would like notes of a particular value/quality, please specify this in the comments field in the order form. 

How do I order foreign currency?

Note: Foreign currency must be ordered at least two banking days prior to pickup. You order the currency via our ordering system.

What type of proof of identity do I need to show when I pick up the money?

The bank requires two approved proofs of identity to be presented. One should be your passport and the other your embassy personnel ID card. 

If the account has several signatories, do we all have to come in?

Yes, if the account requires joint signatories, then all signatories must come in when the currency is being picked up. It is not possible to use an authorisation. 
  
Note: It is important that the account mandate is up-to-date with the correct signatories at all times.

Do I need to show proof of identity every time I buy foreign currency?

Yes, proof of identity must be presented each time you buy foreign currency.

How is the money counted?

Our bank offices call for the currency to be counted at the counter, which means that other customers can see that we are counting money. 

Note: 
When the order exceeds the equivalent value of NOK 50 000, the bank requires two approved proofs of identity to be presented. One should be your passport and the other your embassy personnel ID card. 
If the account requires joint signatories, all signatories must bring two approved proofs of identify as described.
 

D number necessary to be a signatory

To be able to open an account as a private individual in a Norwegian bank, you must have a D number from the Norwegian authorities. You also need a D number to be a signatory of a bank account.

Foreign mission personnel notified to and accepted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be assigned a D number upon arrival.
